Trauma Recovery

Trauma can manifest in various ways and its effects are unique to each individual. Trauma is defined by the person experiencing the event(s) and encompasses an event or series of events that overwhelm a person's physical, emotional, and/or spiritual well-being, making it challenging or even impossible to cope. The impact of trauma is far-reaching, often leading to profound suffering and isolation, intertwined with feelings of shame, blame, guilt, and anger.

Since trauma leaves a lasting impact on both the body and mind, I utilize a "bottom up" approach called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to assist in processing the event(s) without the need for retelling of the story. In our work together, we'll start by ensuring that we have a shared definition of trauma and how these experiences embed themselves in our brains and bodies as well as how they unfold our daily lives. Next, we'll equip you with a repertoire of skills to use when you're triggered, when life is overwhelming, or when you just need a little grounding. Through the magic of the body's natural inclination toward healing, guided by the EMDR process, you will find a path through that allows you to release the heavy burdens of trauma and move forward in life in a new way. It sounds a bit woo-woo, doesn't it? I agree. And, it's very much a worthwhile approach to healing trauma.

Grounding strategies, guided visualizations, and tailored trauma-informed interventions are utilized to navigate clients on their healing journey, empowering them to release the heavy burdens they carry and move forward in life unencumbered.
